Putting faces to names

In our opinion, we have the best team in recruitment! We all genuinely love our jobs and believe that it shouldn't be all work and no play - after all we spend more than 40 hours a week together!

Karen Robertson (Managing Director) 

As dedication goes, surely no-one can beat that of our MD. On a recent assignment she gave up her weekend to work two nightshifts so she could get "a feel" for the job in-hand! 

This is above the normal call of duty for Brae Scotland staff and Karen has made sure that none of us have forgotten it!

Karen's background in management for two national Retailers coupled with her previous experience of running her own business (a sweet shop .. how could she give that up!) has complimented the ethos of providing a high level of service to our clients and applicants alike.

Her rare ability to balance files and paperwork in huge piles on her desk has made her the envy of other staff although this does make her office a fire risk. She did think she was wrong once, but she was mistaken. Karen co-owns the company along with Jayne Johnson.

Jayne Johnson (Operations Director)

Born in Dunfermline as a child of the 60′s, her "flower power" ways can still be found on her note pad with her constant doodling of flowers and other totally unrecognisable things!

At 18, with no wish to do anything apart from play hockey, she joined the WRAC (Women's Army) and has been constantly retelling stories from those days for the past 20 odd years.

After leaving the army in 1984, Jayne quickly found a position as a communications officer for NYK Shipping Line and then setting up a new Communications department for Deloitte Haskins and Sells. She then joined The Three Tees Agency in 1987 and so began her career in Recruitment!

A few years later (she forgets we can actually count!) she is now heads up the day to day operational business at Brae. Jayne shares an office with Renata. Jayne never makes coffee.

Kelly McWilliams (Accounts Officer)

Kelly is the most important member of our team. Or so she'd have everyone believe! She joined us straight from University where she had worked very hard, never enjoying the benefits of the Student Union or local establishments during her whole time there. (We didn't believe her either!).

Kelly is in charge of all aspects of our accounts processes, including our budgets and expenses... Well... we call it a budget... but Kelly never lets us spend any money! If we ask for a stamp she asks "why". If we ask for a new pen she wants to know what is wrong with our old one.  She has drawers full of staples and paperclips but will not allow us to use them. Kelly always clicks the wrong things on her computer and Jayne has to fix it. Karen and Kelly share an office and loads of 'banter'.  Kelly is scary.

Renata Young (Recruitment Coordinator)

Our Renata was actually one of our first ever temporary employees when we started the business in 2006. She worked on various bookings for us (although she did let us down at a booking because she was "allergic to Scottish dust"). However she bribed us with chocolate and we decided to employ her in our office but we make sure she knows the Mr Sheen is kept under the sink (she is never going to live it down!). She is now married (which is great because we couldn't spell her Polish surname before!) and is picking up many of our naughty Scottish ways, including drinking pints of lager .. even in her wedding dress!

Renata and Jayne share an office, along with Elaine. It is much tidier than Karen and Kelly's.

Elaine Miller (Recruitment Coordinator)

Elaine is the newest member of our team and with her cheery outlook and youthful looks, we still can't believe she is a granny! Although her skills as a matriarch and as an NLP Practioner/Complimentary Health Therapist will certainly come in handy in this office!

Elaine assures us that she cannot make us say or think anything that we do not want to.  We are not so sure...! DO NOT look into her eyes!

With a background in recruitment and sales training we are very happy to have her aboard and she makes quite good coffee too!
